Round House Theatre Silver Spring Presents ‘Over the Line Festival’ July 12-29 by Sarah Pressler

Round House Theatre shakes things up in Silver Spring this month with its inaugural Over The Line Festival. Curated by Round House, this unique celebration of theatre, music, and dance comes to Round House Theatre Silver Spring from July 12 thru 29, 2012.

The Over the Line Festival brings the Round House Silver Spring slogan “Something Different Every Day” to its logical culmination – something different every hour!  For three weeks, more than 10 companies will perform nearly 50 times. There are shows for every age and interest – from families who want to bring their children to a Saturday morning show to fans of cutting edge performances to late night cabaret goers.
The festival features performances by Contradiction Dance, Clown Cabaret, dog & pony dc, Forum Theatre, Will Gartshore, Happenstance Theater, Emma Jaster, Brianna Letourneau and company, on the nOse productions, Jon Spelman and Tina Chancey, and Taffety Punk Theatre Company. Round House Associate Producer Danisha Crosby said, “Round House Theatre Silver Spring is the perfect home for the Over The Line Festival. Throughout the year, Round House uses its resources to encourage and further the work of artists from across the area. We’re excited to act as a home for many of these groups, and to be a catalyst for bringing them all together.  Many of us have talked about how exciting it would be to bring some of our favorite artists together under one roof at one time – and now the Over The Line Festival is creating the opportunity to do just that in Silver Spring. All of us at Round House are thrilled to be able to bring this unique event to the DC metro area.”

Michael Dove of Forum Theatre stated, “We are immensely thrilled to be part of this festival with these other amazing groups. It’s exciting to have this much happening in Silver Spring and with such a diversity of artists and productions. It will be a festival like none other for the DC area and I and Forum are honored to be a part of it.”

“Happenstance Theater is really excited about Over The Line at Round House,” said Happenstance’s Sabrina Mandell. “We can’t wait to be immersed in the high-quality, high-octane, curated performances being brought to Silver Spring this July. With this big a concentration of quality performance, we might not be able to contain ourselves! We might just step OVER THE LINE!!!”

Over The Line gives us the opportunity to dance our way through the summer at our favorite place to perform, alongside the other incredible artists and daring productions that will be at Round House Theatre Silver Spring,” said Contradiction Dance’s Kelly Mayfield.

Tickets for performances in the Over The Line Festival are $15 ($10 for Round House subscribers, senior citizens, patrons age 30 and under, and groups of 10 or more).
