With the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia dissolving this year, this year’s Barrymore Awards may be the final year for Philadelphia’s awards that honor excellence in theatre. I am hoping that the awards will continue. It was an annual tradition of mine to travel to Philadelphia to catch up with the very friendly and prolific theatre community. DC area theatregoers will recognize winner Joe Calarco whose work has been seen at Signature Theatre. And I am thrilled that Forrest McClendon was recognized again by The Philadelphia theatre community.
