Bay Theatre Company presents The Foursome by Norm Foster – from December 7, 2012 – January 13, 2013, Directed by Jim Chance.
The Bay Theatre presents its second show of the season, Norm Foster’s The Foursome, directed by Jim Chance, and produced by Janet Luby and Wendy Saulters.
“Rick, Ted, Donnie, and Cameron are home for their fifteenth college reunion. During the weekend, the men go out for a game of golf, and it is during this game that the four get caught up on each other’s lives since their college days. The play is set on the eighteen tees of The Windemere Golf and Country Club. Of course, real golf balls are not used. All golf shots are mimed.”
The cast for The Foursome includes Jim Gallagher (Cameron), Paul Edward Hope* (Rick), Lee Ordeman* (Ted), and Stephen Martin* (Donnie).
Jim Chance (Director) – is Bay Theatre’s first Associate Artist. Jim directed our productions of Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love, Anton Chekhov’s The Sneeze, Will Bartlett’s Rumple Who? and now, Norm Foster’s The Foursome. He has more than two dozen directing credits at other venues, including works by Beckett, Shakespeare, American classics, new plays, and musicals. A member of Actors Equity, Jim also appeared on our stage in Harvey, Art, Betrayal, Tartuffe, andBecky’s New Car. He appeared off-Broadway in world premieres of The Red Rose with Royal Shakespeare Co. co-founder John Barton and director Tony Torn, and in Rescuers (a script later bought for adaptation to the screen by Barbra Streisand). Jim worked on new play development with the chair of Juilliard’s playwriting program, Obie award winner Christopher Durang. Screen credits include a 2005 feature film, Swimmers, starring two-time Tony award winner Cherry Jones. Swimmers debuted at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, where it was a Humanitas Prize finalist. Swimmers also won the Grand Jury Prize for Best New American Film at the Seattle International Film Festival. Jim’s 2001 film, Riders, debuted at the Los Angeles International Film Festival. Jim appeared on television in recurring principal roles on the daytime dramas Guiding Light and All My Children, and in speaking roles on ABC, CBS and NBC. He holds degrees in Acting (MFA), Government (BA), and Law (JD), and did postdoctoral study in Law at Oxford University (U.K.). He has taught Acting, Communications, Theatre and Film at colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad since 1988. He now teaches leadership and management skills to Federal Judges and U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Officers for the Federal Judicial Center in Washington, and Acting at Anne Arundel Community College
Cast Biographies
Stephen Martin* (Donnie) – Mr. Martin is happy to be returning to Bay Theatre after his first role here as Owen Musser in The Foreigner. Martin has appeared at various local and regional theaters including The Folger Theatre at which he played Polonius in the Helen Hayes Award-winning production of Hamlet (2010); He has appeared several times at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore where he will be playing Gloss in The Beaux’ Stratagem this coming spring. Martin has also appeared at Theatre J in DC where he will play the role of Nate in Andy and the Shadows, this spring. He has appeared at Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, The Delaware Theatre Company, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, Signature Theatre, Ford’s Theatre and Arena Stage. Mr. Martin is proud to be a member of Actors Equity Association and a graduate of The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting at the George Washington University. Martin is also a licensed Washington, DC tour guide. He and his wife Vallerie make their home in Cheverly, MD.
Paul Edward Hope* (Rick) – Paul is delighted to appearing at the Bay Theatre. He most recently did some clowning around in The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of The Servant of Two Masters. Lee Ordeman* (Ted) – is pleased to return to Bay Theatre. He appeared here in The Goat along with artistic director Janet Luby, directed by Cindy Merry Brown. Recent work includes Scena Theatre’s Purge and Hedda Gabler, and he’ll appear next year in Scena’s production of Metamorphosis, adapted by Steven Berkoff. He appeared in Arena Stage’s workshop production of One Arm, originally a screenplay by Tennessee Williams, directed by Moises Kaufman. In film, he can be seen in the HBO film Game Change and next year in the feature Better Living Through Chemistry. Next spring he begins work on the MCM Films feature Widow Creek. Lee is a native of Baltimore and is a graduate of Williams College and Catholic University’s acting program.
Jim Gallagher (Cameron) – Jim last performed with Bay Theatre Company as Sidney in DeathTrap in 2006. Other Bay Theatre appearances include Robert in Betrayal (2003), and John in Oleanna (2002), Bay’s second production. Last season, Jim directed Becky’s New Car which starred Bay’s own Janet Luby. Regional work: Twelfth Night at The Shakespeare Theatre; Doubt, Blue/Orange, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde at Dignity Players; Rabbit Hole, Zoo Story, Hogan’s Goat, All My Sons, and Anne of the Thousand Days at Colonial Players of Annapolis; Pericles, A Streetcar Named Desire, Copenhagen and The Cripple of Inishmaan for Theatre Hopkins. He studied with The Shakespeare Theatre and Studio Theatre in DC, as well as RADA in London.
