Guitarist Tommy Emmanuel Adds Second Show This Monday at 7:30 pm at The Birchmere by Mike Spain

Guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel visits The Birchmere – 3701 Mount Vernon Avenue, in Alexandria, VA at 7:30 PM on Sunday (sold out) and Monday night. Joining him will be fellow guitarist Anthony Snape.

If you love the sound of a beautiful guitar picked by a true master then the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia is the place to be on Monday night. Tommy Emmanuel, the award-winning fingerstyle guitar master is playing a second night at The Birchmere. The first night is Sunday at the legendary concert hall and that show is already sold out.

Tommy Emmanuel is a genre-hopping artist known for his work in folk, country, blues, and rock, pop, and jazz. He has been awarded the Queen’s Member of the Order of Australia Award, which is the highest civilian honor in Australia. In 2011, The Country Music Association honored Emmanuel with their Global Country Artist Award.

He is a Certified Guitar Player, certified by the legendary Chet Atkins! Atkins only awarded four guitarists with this distinction before his death in 2001. He has been inducted into The Thumbpickers’ Hall of Fame and earned the Thumbpicker of the Year Award in 2005. He was named best Acoustic Guitar Player in 2008 and 2010 by Guitar Player Magazine. In 2009, the magazine awarded him their most prestigious honor, the Guitar Legend Award.

His latest release is “The Colonel & The General” a project he recorded with another guitar master Martin Taylor which was released earlier this year. His career spans five decades and over 25 albums. Over the years he has worked with Chet Atkins, Martin Taylor, Jim Nichols and Frank Vignola.

Anthony Snape opens the show. Snape is an independent artist and talented guitarist who has worked with Tommy Emmanuel in the past. Snape’s music has been played on television stations in Australia, the USA, and on NBC, ABC, and PBS. Since his debut in 2006 Snape has won numerous awards for his songwriting talents.
