‘One Night with Janis Joplin’ Begins Performances on Broadway on 9/20 With Opening Night on 10/10 at The Lyceum

One Night with Janis Joplin is coming to Broadway and will begin previews at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre – 149 West 45th Street – on Friday, September 20, 2013. Opening night is on Thursday, October 10, 2013.

The production arrives in New York following acclaimed engagements at Portland Center Stage, Cleveland Play House, Pasadena Playhouse, and Milwaukee Repertory Theater, before stopping here at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Mary Bridget Davies will reprise her role on Broadway.

In his review on October 12, 2012, when the show made its first stop at Arena Stage, Mike Spain wrote, “If you are a fan of the music of Janis Joplin, classic rock, or the blues – One Night with Janis Joplin is a show you won’t want to miss. This show sizzles and rocks!”

DCMTA review Max Johnson, wrote in his review on June 24, 2013, “One Night with Janis Joplin is an absolute ‘Must See’ for any Janis fan and can be quite the treat for any appreciator of moving character arcs. This show was brought back for a reason, and I encourage you to find out why.”

One Night with Janis Joplin is written and directed by Randy Johnson, ans is produced by Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich, in association with The Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeffrey Jampol for JAM, Inc. Additional creative team and casting will be announced shortly.
