This summer, The Landless Theatre Company (winner of the 2008 Best Musical Pick of the Fringe) returns to CapFringe with Haute Mess, a comedy by NYC’s The Other Baldwins, creators of Landless hits Spidermusical. and Perez Hilton Saves The Universe.
Once upon a time there were three models (fashion, not catalogue) named Laila, Yasmine and Bracelet. After watching a cute boy in the movie NEWSIES on Disney Channel On Demand, the models decide that it is time to “seize the day” and form a union for the fair treatment of models. Before long they must confront the awesome power of Anna Wintour and her minions at Vogue, as well as a demonic bag lady who rules the mole people of the abandoned C train tunnel.
Haute Mess is directed by DC’s Premiere purveyor of trash, Ian Allen (Artistic Director, Cherry Red Productions), who describes the play as “a stunningly stupid examination of the fashion industry.” The production stars notorious DC punk dragstress Lucrezia Blozia and her bitches: the sophisticated Helen Highwater and the corn-fed Patty O’Furrnatura. Allen directs the piece in an artful chamber-theatre style, and unlike the oppressors of models depicted in this play, in no way exploits his “actresses” by having them flash their “genitalia” to the audience (wink wink).
Put on your trashiest heels, and join us for a late-night romp with Haute Mess at CapFringe!
