  1. I can’t believe The Motherfucker with the Hat received zero nominations. How is that possible? The actors all gave beautiful performances in one of the best written plays. Nothing for Quentin Maré, Drew Cortese, Liche Ariza or Rosal Colón? That’s crazy.

    • What do you expect? The undeserved disdain for the many well-deserved nominations Toby’s received last year for its fabulous production of The Color Purple (by critics who never saw the show and by the theatres with all the money in this town) was not going to lead to any or few nominations this year. I was shocked that they received the two noms for In the Heights. The new Helen and Hayes joke was created for two reasons only: to punish Toby’s for receiving those many nominations and to punish Synetic for constantly winning against the ‘Big Boys.’ Look at the some of the ridiculous nominations the big theatres received last night. The small theatres were hacked and diced last night again. And not nominating Shakespeare Theatre Company and Theater J’s fabulous productions was shameless.

  2. Amazed that Romeo and Juliet with Posner got any nominations. Most people I know walked out on it because it was so bad.
I thought Motherfucker was a bore.Miss Julie was fabulous.Funny Thing also.

  3. And how about Company at Signature . One of the most well balanced and well acted musicals produced last year. Not even an ensemble nomination. The Last Five Years was not worthy of the nominations it got. Not a very memorable production.
