Acclaimed and renowned American musical theatre composer Jason Robert Brown will present a benefit cabaret entitled “I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You” on Monday, March 17, 2014 to kick of Red Branch Theatre Company’s 2014 season.
Howard County restaurant Iron Bridge Wine Company will cater the affair with Irish-themed favorites in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
Proceeds will benefit Red Branch Theatre Company’s annual budget. This promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event given the opportunity to see this prominent composer in a rare concert appearance in the theatre’s intimate, 100-seat space.
2014 promises to be a big year for Jason Robert Brown—his newest musical, a stage adaptation of The Bridges of Madison County, will open on Broadway. A major motion picture has been made of his iconic musical, The Last Five Years. Starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, it is also slated for wide release in 2014. It has just recently been announced that his musical 13, has also been optioned for film.
“We have been producing works by Jason Robert Brown since 2008,” states Red Branch Theatre Company Executive Producer, Stephanie Lynn Williams. “Having mounted two separate productions of both Songs for a New World and 13, we were really excited at the prospect to bring this playwright and composer that we hold in such high esteem to our stage.”
Red Branch Theatre Company will open Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years just a few short weeks after his one-night-only cabaret performance as a part of The Love/Loss Cycle.
To top off the cabaret, Mr. Brown will accompany members of TYA, Drama Learning Center’s teen professional company, in one of his compositions during the evening’s performance.
While tickets for I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You are not part of any subscription series, subscribers are able to purchase their tickets a month before they go on sale to the general public.

Titles for the remainder of Red Branch’s 2014 season, entitled On Love and Loss include You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow, Triumph of Love, and A Year With Frog and Toad.
Subscriptions are still available for purchase here, and patrons who subscribe throughout the month of December will be given information that will allow them to purchase tickets for Jason Robert Brown’s Cabaret until January 2, 2014 when the tickets go on sale to the public.
