The Baltimore Rock Opera Society (BROS) is holding auditions this Sunday and Monday, June 1 and 2 for “badass” actors, singers and dancers for their upcoming world-premiere, The Electric Pharaoh. Auditions are 1:00 – 7:30p.m. Sunday and 7:00 – 10:00p.m. at BROS Headquarters at the Bell Foundry, 1st floor – 1539 North Calvert Street, in Baltimore, MD.
The Electric Pharaoh is the BROS’ 6th original rock musical and takes place in a future Egypt where electricity is currency. A powerful Pharaoh rules by keeping the people divided but a boy from the lower caste uncovers a secret that starts a garage rock revolution! With the tragic passing of GWAR front man Oderus Urungus earlier this year, this may be the closest you’ll get to that kind of theatrical metal mayhem and trust, the BROS are having so much fun you’ll want to get close – like catch something close.
I got a chance to get up close and personal with some of the BROS a little while back on the second leg of their World, okay Mid-Atlantic Domination Tour when they stopped in at The Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria with their amazing remount of their very first show, Gründlehämmer.
We spoke with one of Gründlehämmer’s villains, the statuesque Greg Bowen who plays the evil King Lothario, a heroine, Danielle Robinette, also statuesque, who plays the heroic mentor Halvor and Jared Margulies, one of the co-writers of Gründlehämmer along with being the BROS’ Outreach Director and Grand Wizard of Rock Wizardry.
