Attend the Tale of Landless Theatre’s Prog Metal Sweeney Todd: Announcing New Venue, Tickets on Sale and More!

The Landless Theatre Company announces that the premiere production of Sweeney Todd – Prog Metal Version will now be held at  August 7-30, 2014 at Warehouse Theatre-645 New York Ave, NW, in Washington, DC.

The production was originally scheduled to be produced as a concert staging at Mount Vernon Church’s Undercroft Theatre, but given the possibilities for interesting storytelling in this landmark rock theatre production, Landless’ artistic team jumped at the opportunity to move the production to Warehouse.

“It just feels like home to me,” said Landless Resident Scenic Designer Jared Davis, who has produced work at Warehouse over the years for his company Astro Pop Events (producers of DC’s popular Yuri’s Night and Elvis Birthday Fight Club events).

For the past several months, the Landless artists have been developing the prog metal score for this production, and are gearing up to release information about the creative team and cast on DCMetroTheaterArts in the coming weeks. The production will be directed by Resident Director Melissa Baughman (Richard Campbell’s Frankenstein, Diamond Dead), and music directed by Resident Artist Charles W. Johnson (Helen Hayes Recommended High Fidelity – A Musical, Gutenberg! The Musical!).

Landless is also proud to announce its first corporate sponsor for The Summer of Rock: Dangerously Delicious Pies!

“I think it goes without saying that Sweeney and Dangerously Delicious Pies is a match made in heaven,” winks Artistic Director Andrew L. Baughman, who will be appearing in Sweeney and directing Rock Bottom [A Rock Opus] at Warehouse for Capital Fringe in July. “You can safely bet on seeing a ‘Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie’ on sale in August, for those patrons looking for a truly immersive Sweeney Todd experience.”
