Howard Community College’s (HCC) Arts Collective (AC) presents Avery Crozier’s side-splitting, irreverent Eat the Runt. An outrageous, delicious comic satire that can go in countless, mind-blowing directions – because the audience chooses a different cast each night.

A seemingly innocent job interview slowly spirals into chaos as jealousy, desire, and deception collide. When the truth is revealed, only the strongest will survive.
AC has set the play in a near-by prominent contemporary art museum, the perfect arena for exploring ethnicity, gender, and cultural issues. The central relationships among the cast of characters could include lesbian, gay, or heterosexual entanglements depending on the cast chosen. Some combinations will make sense, while others may plunge the play into the absurd. To quote the playwright, Avery Crozier, “but sometimes the greatest discoveries are accidents. This one’s waiting to happen. Every night.”
Eat the Runt, directed by Susan G. Kramer, includes a stellar cast of eight actors poised to take on the challenge each performance (in various roles) featuring HCC students, alumni and guest artists, as well as the work of the best professional designers in the area. A show unlike you’ve ever seen.
Eat the Runt runs 3 weekends:
April 17 – May 3, 2015 in HCC’s Studio Theatre, with performances on Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
Seating is limited/purchasing tickets early is encouraged.
Individual tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors (60+) and military, and $10 for all students with identification.

About the Director – Susan G. Kramer
Susan G. Kramer (Eat the Runt director, AC Producing Artistic Director) is honored to have been a part of HCC’s Arts Collective since its inception in 1995.
Over the past three decades Kramer has worked in the Baltimore area as director, designer and performer; venues include Catonsville Community College, Fell’s Point Corner Theatre
Dundalk Community Theatre, Vagabond Players, Spotlighters Theatre, Fell’s Point Corner Theatre, Howard Community College, and Rep Stage, etc. Kramer’s most recent and relevant AC accomplishment; spearheading HCC’s AC partnership with Steppenwolf West and Alexandra Billings, offering intensives in Viewpoints and improvisation (2008-present).
Most Kramer directed Silhouette Stages’ production of Rent, which Baltimore Theatre Guide nominated her as best director of a musical and was honored as best director of a musical on DCMetroTheaterArts. Kramer currently directs (and has directed since 2008) “What Improv Group?!?!” W.I.G. is AC’s underground improv group and recently performed for the Columbia Festival of the Arts as well as the Baltimore Improv Festival.
Other notable productions directed include Angels In America, Peter Pan, Dracula, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Chorus Line, Pippin, Noises Off, The Foreigner, The Crucible, and many others.
In 1985, Valerie Lash (HCC’s Arts and Humanities Dean) invited Kramer to direct HCC’s production of The Dining Room; a project which initiated Kramer’s 25-plus year career in the arts at HCC and was the seedling from which the Arts Collective sprang (from the ground up).
Entering its 20th Season, AC is now a professionally run organization all about supporting, nurturing and fusing collaborative relationships with all artists from students to professionals and in between. At HCC, Kramer has taught courses in Acting, Speech, Improvisation, and the Viewpoints as well as mentored/led/produced many workshops, independent study programs, and internships (auditions, improv, dance, musical theatre, technical theatre, design, etc.).
