Eddie Money at Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club

Approximately 37 years after launching his career in the late 70’s and becoming an early MTV luminary in the 80’s, iconic rock star Eddie Money rolled back the clock for an hour at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club Friday night, cranking out all of his classic hits.

Backed by a fantastic four-member band, consisting of guitarist Tommy Girvin, bassist Lee Beverly, drummer Glenn Symmonds and keyboardist Chris Grove, Money opened the show with “Baby, Hold On To Me,” the lead single from his self-titled debut album, welcomed by thunderous cheers and applause.

“What a beautiful night and place for a rock ‘n roll show,” Money roared. “Are we going to get a little crazy tonight?!”

Fans, who appeared to range in age from 21 to 61, were ready to rock, rising to their feet during “Walk on Water,” a song that propelled a quick-fire session for the rocker that included impressive harmonica highlights on “No Control,” and a touching tribute to military veterans with his new single, “One More Soldier Coming Home.”

A surge of energy erupted when Money introduced “Take Me Home Tonight,” and the excitement continued through the setlist closing of “Think I’m In Love,” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.”

Money capped off the night with an anticipatory/obligatory encore, concluding with his 1982 hit “Shakin’” and extending an open invitation to stay for a second round of his show. Even at 66, Money demonstrated that he can rally, shake and rock it for a happy hour.

Running Time: Approximately 60 minutes with no intermission.
