New Play Reading: ‘THE LOATHING’: This Monday, July 20th at 7:00 p.m., at Iona Senior Services

On Monday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m., The Playwrights Forum will present a public reading of Robert Michael Olivers new play, The Loathing. Iona Senior Services will host the reading. They are located at 4125 Albemarle Street NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Gillian Drake directs the reading. She has assembled an excellent cast: Eva Wilhelm as Susan, Tim Torre as Aaron, Pam Bierly as Ruth, and Soneka Anderson as Baya.

In The Loathing, as the young college professor, Susan Lang, prepares for her eight o’clock Philosophy of Ethics class, she discovers Aaron, a young mathematics student, asleep in her classroom. An instant connection is made, but not the kind an innocent onlooker might suspect. Susan and her dear friend Ruth, a professor in the English Department who specializes in “the Fallen Poetics” of Emily Dickenson, seek out Aaron, unaware of the darkness they are about to encounter.

The Loathing intimately explores our enduring quest for atonement, an atonement especially difficult in our ever more secular age.

The Playwrights Forum asks for a small donation at the door. Light refreshments are provided.
