In Part 2 of a series of interviews with the Director and cast of Peace Mountain Theatre Company‘s production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, meet Elyon Topolosky.
Joel: Please introduce yourself and tell readers where they may have seen you perform on local stages.
Elyon: Hi I’m Elyon Topolosky, a 6th grader at the Berman Hebrew Academy. I moved from New Orleans to Maryland two years ago. I have always loved theatre and have recently been in a few productions including Guys and Dolls (Nicely Nicely Johnson) at Imagination Stage summer theatre, Honk Jr. (the Cat) at Imagination Stage Theatre, and Shrek (Dwarf) at Har Shalom Productions.
Why did you want to appear in this production of All My Sons?
It’s my first non-musical production and I thought it would be a really different role for me. This is also my first play where all the other cast members are adults. I know I could learn a lot from everyone.
Tell us about who you play in the show.
I play an 8 year-old boy named Bert. He’s a boy in the neighborhood who comes over to play Cops and Robber games with Joe Keller, which really makes his wife very anxious. Joe has Bert believe that he is chief of police with a jail in his basement.
What stands out most to you about All My Sons?
Secrets. Everyone keeps secrets and people’s pasts come to affect them and others. They all blame each other. The show makes people think about their own responsibility to their family and also to the greater world. I think it’s important to look beyond yourself and care about what is right.
What do you want audiences to take away with them after seeing All My Sons?
I think people can learn so much from this play. They need to take responsibility for their own actions, and always try to think of how your actions affect others.
All My Sons plays from Peace Mountain Theatre Company performing at Congregation Har Shalom – 11510 Falls Road, in Potomac, MD. For tickets, call (301) 299-7087, or purchase them online.
