InterAct Story Theatre Presents the Inaugural Performance of the Wheaton Family Theatre This Saturday 10/3@11 am at Wheaton Public Library

This Saturday at 11 am, The Wheaton-based educational theatre company InterAct Story Theatre launches the inaugural performance of the Wheaton Family Theatre Series, at the Wheaton Public Library (11701 Georgia Avenue, in Silver Spring, MD). The series will produce a free-of-charge performance, followed by an interactive post-performance workshop for families, once a month through February 2016. The series is made possible by a generous $10,000 Wheaton Cultural Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County.

The first performance of the series is a special community performance of InterAct Story Theatre’s popular play The Hero of EVERYTHING this Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. Local critics referred to The Hero of EVERYTHING as being, “intriguing, thrilling, and inspiring,” and, “a remarkably entertaining and educational hour of quality theatre for young audiences.”

Following the performance, InterAct’s Artistic Director Ali Oliver-Krueger will lead the audience in a Behind the Scenes talkback, during which audience members will have the opportunity to meet the actors and the director/playwright, talk about the play, and see how the special effects magic of live theatre happens.

For Oliver-Krueger, the series launch is especially exciting. ”I’m over the moon to launch the first season of the InterAct Story Theatre Family Theatre Series right here in Wheaton,” says Oliver-Krueger. “I remember growing up as a kid in Wheaton and not having a lot of opportunities to experience theatre and arts here at home. It’s really exciting to be able to take all of these wonderful arts programs that InterAct Story Theatre artists do for kids and families across the country and bring them home to our local Wheaton community that I love. Our hope is that this is just the first season of an annual Wheaton Family Theatre Series so we can keep bringing high-caliber, professionally produced arts experiences geared for children and their families. We’re proud to be here in Wheaton, and we can’t wait to serve our home community!”

When asked about the InterAct Story Theatre Wheaton Family Theatre Series, Suzan Jenkins, CEO of The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, said, “We are thrilled that the Wheaton Cultural Grants have helped to launch this important inaugural season of the InterAct Story Theatre Wheaton Family Theatre Series. This new performing arts series that InterAct Story Theatre has developed for children and families is a vital part of our collective efforts to cultivate the arts and humanities in Wheaton.”
