Silver Spring Stage presents Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) by Michael Carleton, James Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez, directed by Susan Brall and produced by Jim Robertson, a non-traditional holiday show that is a hilarious spoof of pretty much every Christmas show from traditional to contemporary. Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) will perform weekends December 11 to 20, 2015.
Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) got its start in 2003 at Cape May Stage when Michael Carleton, James Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez wrote and performed the play. Carleton was the artistic director of Cape May Stage. And like the premise of the show of a group of actors who are tired of performing the traditional A Christmas Carol, the three reinvent the holiday genre by spoofing every Christmas show they can think of: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Gift of the Magi, A Charlie Brown Christmas, It’s A Wonderful Life, and even The Nutcracker, including most every carol ever sung. No seasonal favorite is spared their parody.
Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) opens with a serious Jim/Shaq (Shaquille Stewart) in traditional attire reciting the opening of A Christmas Carol. While giving his Victorian best, John/Alex (Alex Prete) and Mike/Patrick (Patrick O’Connor) stop the proceedings declaring they cannot do the show again. They offer more worthy pieces to be presented. And it’s off to the parody races. Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some) is a madcap romp through the holiday season, promising rollicking merriment for all ages!
The production team includes Lynette Franklin (Assistant Director), Bernard and Joseph Gabin (Lighting and Set Design), and Nick Sampson (Sound Design).
