Mazel Tov to Ari Roth and Mosaic Theater Company of DC for launching a brand-new major company within barely a year, for announcing what may be the most ambitiously substantive and politically pertinent season ever seen in this area, and for kicking it off with a world-premiere production that DCMTA’s reviewer called “epic and mesmerizing.”

This is the 4rd straight year that we have honored Don Michael Mendoza and Regie Cabico’s La-Ti-Do. Now performing at Bistro Bistro – 1727 Connecticut Avenue, NW, in Washington, DC – in Dupont Circle on their usual Monday nights, La-Ti-Do continues to offer a place for local talent to strut their stuff at La-Ti-Do’s weekly cabaret performances of music and spoken word. It’s the place be on Monday nights to see the abundance of talent that fills our local stages and music venues. Because of La-Ti-Do, dozens of talented artists have found a home where they can share their talent with all of us.

WOLF PACK THEATRE COMPANY
The message of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic has always been one of generosity and kindness, but writer and Director William Leary uses this production to push a message of social justice that isn’t always apparent in a more traditional staging. But this Christmas Carol is about more than a message on stage. Wolf Pack Theatre Company has partnered with Community Crisis Services Inc. and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church to contribute directly to services for the homeless in Prince George’s County. In a time when the arts in general, and theatre in particular, may seem isolated from the realities of everyday life, Wolf Pack is doing the best work that the arts can do – giving back to the community. In a holiday season too often inundated with iPhones and turkeys and family stress, it is refreshing to be reminded of those less fortunate. As the Ghost of Christmas Past (Casey Hobart) reminds Scrooge, we all have the power to make choices to help others. And that may be the best Christmas present of all.______
