Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11 AM

Fresh from selling out shows in Europe and an extended debut run in Australia, Cirque Zuma Zuma is featuring its action-packed and exciting stage show at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center (CAC) on Sunday, April 10th and Monday, April 11, 2016. The show features African acrobats, jugglers, vocalists, and comedy, plus the Limbo and Lion dances.

Described as an African-style Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Zuma Zuma is full of incredible features that keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Audiences from the D.C. metropolitan area now have an opportunity to see this feature length stage show at the CAC’s 500-seat concert hall, with two performance times to choose from on Sunday, April 10th at 2 & 6 PM.

There will also be a shortened, hour-long performance on Monday, April 1th at 1 AM, which features a Q & A after the show.

Audiences may remember the Cirque from its run as a finalist on the sixth season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The cirque spectacle is wrapped in a colorfully costumed troupe of artists, including South African vocalists, gumboot dancers, contortionists, Zimbabwean percussionists, Egyptian limbo dancers, Gabonese tumblers, amazing pole acts, and many more.

Cirque Zuma Zuma is a touring arm of African Acrobats International (AAI), which upholds the centuries-old tradition of African dance and acrobatics with training schools in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Las Vegas. Originally founded in East Africa as a private school, AAI established Cirque Zuma Zuma in 2005 with the mission of teaching the world about African cultures.

The CAC, through programs such as Cirque Zuma Zuma, strives to raise cultural awareness and bring attention to contemporary issues. The CAC’s mission is to improve cultural literacy, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and build bridges between the arts, cultural studies, and all disciplines concerned with the expression of culture. Our dynamic and diverse programming celebrates our community’s many cultures.
