The greater D.C. area lost a beloved artist, friend and colleague May 1, 2016 when Vincent Alvin Hill died following a fight with cancer. Hillās life will be celebrated by all who would like to honor him during a memorial service at Arena Stage the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW) Monday, June 27, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fichandler Stage. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m.
In his role as wig, hair and makeup supervisor, Hill was an important part of the Arena Stage family whose kindness, caring attention and talent as an artist and performer were at the core of what makes Arena what it is. Hill worked at countless area theaters, including Signature Theatre, and traveled as the makeup artist for Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
He was widely beloved as drag entertainer Vickii Vox, winning Miss Gay Maryland in 1988, Miss Gay Pride DC in 1991, Miss Ziegfeldās in 1992 and Miss Capital City in 1995 as well as the hearts of so many he touched during his life.
