If you’re looking for an adult comedy featuring a unicorn, funny dialogue and wicked costumes SpookyMsgPlsFwd! is a show for you! This fast-paced comedy imagines a world 60 years after the election of 2016. Intertwined in this show is a young woman hunting the elusive unicorn and an angry older man having a bad time at the movies – while both receive strange messages on their devices.
This is a smart commentary on today’s election, technology, and what the future holds for America. Cleverly choreographed by Kristen Pilgrim and designed by Caitlin DeSantis and Caroline DeSantis, the show utilizes a card-table to symbolize different themes during the shows.
Playwright and Director Adrian Jesus Iglesias fully includes audience participation in several scenes. The cast of Aloysia Jean, Adrian Jesus Iglesias, Lori Pitts, Scott Duvall, Jordanna Hernandez, Lauren Patton, and Nate Shelton is is terrific.
The show’s plot goes back and forth – almost like a soap opera. One moment we are in a classroom where children (Jordanna Hernandez, Lori Pitts, and Scott Duvall) are learning from their diligent teacher (Lauren Patton) about technology implanted in their brains. Hernandez, Pitts, and Duvall hysterically portray hyperactive children waving their hands in the air to answer a question.
In another moment an elderly man (Adrian Jesus Iglesias) is trying to watch a movie in a theater and every time he tries technological errors thwart him as he carries his Mac with him. A young girl, Aloysia Jean, is chasing a unicorn, but her technology keeps getting bombarded with random messages and she hilariously implores the IT guy, Nate Shelton, to help her. Shelton also acts out a scene explaining the chase for the unicorn and he is dressed much like a unicorn with his gold lame leggings and colorful pastel clothes. So does Jean eventually capture the unicorn? Find out by watching the show!!
This fast-paced comedy makes you think about the future and what it will really be like. Will there be camera in the bathroom? Will we be required to identify our sexuality to the government?
