Josh: My name is Josh Turner and I have been doing theatre practically since I was born. I took a brief break from theatre between 8th grade and 9th grade and when I did the spring musical Addams Family, I felt like I could pick up theatre again and join a new department. I felt like I was a part of a community who shared interests and people who wanted to see each other succeed.

Who do you play in School of Rock?

I play Bob from No Vacancy, Gabe Brown, and Mr. Sanders. Bob is a hardcore rocker, Gabe Brown is a very uptight teacher, and Mr. Sanders is a football dad who is disappointed in his son, Billy.

Why did you want to be part of this production?

School of Rock has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it and when I saw the Broadway musical, I was eager to get the chance to perform the show. As soon as our director announced that we were doing it, I knew I had to audition.

What impresses you most about this production of School of Rock?

An enormous amount of heart and dedication has been put into producing this really terrific show. Everyone involved from tech to the cast members to the director have worked extremely hard and I hope the audience enjoys the show.

How is this cast different from casts that you’ve worked with before?

It is a much larger cast than other fall musicals we have done but we do have a lot of new faces. It’s been great getting to know new people and working with the great actors and tech that I have known from past shows.

School of Rock performs weekends from November 4 to November 19, 2016, at Beyond the Page Theatre Company at West Potomac High School – 6500 Quander Road, in Alexandria, VA. Tickets can be purchased online.

The School of Rock interviews were conducted by Adrianna DeLorenzo, Emily Lyon, Frankie Mananzan, Jonathan Barger, and Lily Vita.
