News: Capital Fringe Announces Venue Change and Application Details for the 2018 Capital Fringe Festival

Registration is now open for the 13th Annual Capital Fringe Festival. Those wishing to participate in the festival can apply from now through January 16th, 2018.

The 2018 Capital Fringe Festival will take place from July 7th to 29th, 2018.

Yesterday, Capital Fringe announced a venue change for the 2018 festival. After being headquartered in the Logan Arts Space for the last three years, the 2018 festival will move to SW DC and perform in venues including Arena Stage’s Mead Center for American Theater, Blind Whino, Westminster Church and two 80-seat capacity performance tents that will be set up on 4th Street SW.

In discussing the venue change, Capital Fringe President CEO and Founder Julianne Brienza told DC Theater Arts: “We are all excited to be closer to the water this summer. We are thrilled with our newly formed partnerships with Arena Stage, SW BID, and other venues in the neighborhood. There is a real sense of the community wanting to have the Festival. I have missed having tents in the summer, the vibe, the BBQ. I hope with all the activity around the Wharf this summer that the artists presenting in the Festival will see increased tickets sales.”

Those interested in applying to the 2018 Capital Fringe Festival are encouraged to attend a “How to Fringe 2018 Information Session” on either November 20th or December 10th at the Logan Fringe Arts Space. To RSVP, please email Lee Cromwell, Festival Producer, at [email protected]. For more information on the festival, call the Fringe Admin Office Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at (202) 737-7240.

The Logan Fringe Artspace, Capital Fringe’s headquarters located at 1358 Florida Avenue in NE DC, is currently undergoing an extensive renovation that will create two performance venues able to accommodate equity productions, a bar/restaurant, an art gallery and a scene shop.

  1. This is exciting news! What a great move! And it’s wonderful to see that both Arena and the BID have recognized the role of Fringe in bringing new audiences to both the theatre and a burgeoning area.
