The 2018 DC Queer Theatre Festival is presenting performances of 7 ten minute plays on Friday, December 7, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 8 at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm at DC Arts Center.
With the intention of unleashing and celebrating underrepresented voices and diversity of artists, audiences, and community, the 2018 DC Queer Theatre Festival will present plays featuring a broad spectrum of award-winning, DC area-based writers and performers. The plays deal with the wide variety of joys and challenges facing DC’s LGBTQ community and range from campy comedies to heartfelt explorations of love and loss.

Alan Sharpe – Most Important Meal Of the Day
Past and present blur with identity, as an aging parent and child exchange roles.
Audrey Cefaly – Consider The Ficus
On the day of the 2015 SCOTUS decision, Garrison, an environmental lobbyist, and his partner Nate, an editor, are working through a critical turning point of their own.
Asabi Oke – Out Of Culture
When nerves and truth collide sometimes you get a different type of reality.
Brittany Alyse Willis – Son Of Apollo
Phaethon desperately wants to prove he is not only Apollo’s child, but Apollo’s son.

Shari’s thrilled to have her new girlfriend, Deanna, as her guest to her cousin’s wedding… that is, until Deanna throws an unexpected punch during the reception.
Xemiyulu Manibusan Tapepechul – Protect & Serve
After the murder of a Two-Spirit Trans Womxn, her lover, and fellow Two-Spirit, Apanpiltzin is unable to find healing. She is haunted by her very real fear of being murdered for being a Trans Womxn of Color. This short play is a tribute to the missing and murdered Indigenous Womxn of the American continent, and is in solidarity with all the Trans Womxn and Femmes of Color who have been murdered for daring to exist.
Xian Mao – Fantasy Roadtrip
Two family pariahs reconnect on an interstate drive and discuss sexuality, family and mental illness.
