2018 DC Queer Theatre Festival Runs December 7 and 8

The 2018 DC Queer Theatre Festival is presenting performances of 7 ten minute plays on Friday, December 7, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 8 at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm at DC Arts Center.

With the intention of unleashing and celebrating underrepresented voices and diversity of artists, audiences, and community, the 2018 DC Queer Theatre Festival will present plays featuring a broad spectrum of award-winning, DC area-based writers and performers. The plays deal with the wide variety of joys and challenges facing DC’s LGBTQ community and range from campy comedies to heartfelt explorations of love and loss.

After the murder of a Two-Spirit Trans Womxn, her lover, and fellow Two-Spirit, Apanpiltzin is unable to find healing. She is haunted by her very real fear of being murdered for being a Trans Womxn of Color. This short play is a tribute to the missing and murdered Indigenous Womxn of the American continent, and is in solidarity with all the Trans Womxn and Femmes of Color who have been murdered for daring to exist.

Xian MaoFantasy Roadtrip
Two family pariahs reconnect on an interstate drive and discuss sexuality, family and mental illness.
