1st Stage to host musical group All 4 Bass on November 16th

The Tysons venue is becoming a hub for the performing arts in Northern Virginia.

Another unique cabaret evening is arriving at 1st Stage in Tysons. It is a musical performance by the quartet All 4 Bass. The event is entitled Play it LOW…Play it COOL. The All 4 Bass group is a quartet of basses performing a wide-ranging selection of music from Classical to Jazz to Swing to Pops.

As the Tysons, Virginia area continues to undergo a major revitalization and regeneration into a new cityscape with a growing energized population, residents are seeking out venues for their performing arts cravings.  “We at 1st Stage are committed to being an artistic hub in our community.” said Alex Levy, Artistic Director, 1st Stage. “Besides our six-show season of plays and musicals, we also provide the opportunity to experience live music, dance, literary readings and educational performances.”

“For years, we have partnered with the Virginia Chamber Orchestra (VCO) to bring an eclectic mix of classical, modern and world music to 1st Stage. It has been an exciting partnership that we hope will continue for years to come.” added Levy.

“One of the fun things about our performances with VCO is that it gives both our audiences to see something a little outside our usual programming.” noted Levy, “ALL 4 BASE gives our inquisitive audience a chance to hear Classical, Jazz and Pops with orchestrations that will allow them to hear the music anew.”

So, why does a musical organization with a name Virginia Chamber Orchestra with a many decades life devoted to performing classic music schedule this kind of musical evening?

For the answer to that question, I went to Doug Lovejoy, VCO Board President.

1st Stage Artistic Director Alex Levy.

“Currently there is simply not a venue in Tysons that can accommodate an orchestra so the VCO selects ensemble groups from our own musicians or existing professional groups. We are working to develop an audience to support top quality musical performance in a concert setting.” said Lovejoy.

“Performances by groups like All 4 Bass or QuinTango [who previously performed at 1st Stage] feature classically trained musicians and the 1st Stage venue allows us to mix concert staging and a cabaret format.” added Lovejoy.

There is also an added benefit for the audience and the musicians; engaging with one another during a champagne reception following each performance.
