A Taste for Murder Productions presents ‘Murder at McGinty’s’

What does the New Year bring to downtown Silver Spring? Murder at McGinty’s! A Taste For Murder Productions and McGinty’s Public House have formed a partnership to present dinner theatre – of the murder-mystery comedy sort! McGinty’s Public House has been a local favorite since it opened in 2006. Irish owned and managed, McGinty’s is a large Pub and Restaurant on two different levels. They offer a wide variety to their customers; great dining, nightly entertainment, excellent happy hour specials and all the local and national sports. McGinty’s also caters to large and small groups for fun get-togethers, parties, and
weddings.

Owner Greg Whelan was looking for new and interesting ways to highlight their Chef’s cuisine. “Chef Nico’s talent sometimes gets overlooked as folks tend to stay with Irish Classic fare,” explains Whelan. “Combining his five-star ability with a talented group like ATFM in a cozy setting, seemed like the perfect match. A good friend connected me with ATFM. Once I had met Laura and she spoke about ATFM’s passion for their art, I knew I had found a perfect partner. I’m looking forward to starting something fun and entertaining that will bring something a little different to Silver Spring.”

Using the best local and regional talent, A Taste For Murder Productions offers audience participation mystery performances where the audience is the detective and help to solve the perfect crime! Laura W. Andruski, Artistic Director, founded the theatre company in 2015. She first partnered with the Kentlands Mansion in Gaithersburg to present “Murder at the Mansion” dessert theatre. Performances at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville soon followed. ATFM has also performed for private parties and corporate events. Now in their fifth year of business, ATFM is thrilled to realize another goal – a dinner theatre
partnership.

“I am so pleased that Greg reached out to me,” states Andruski. “McGinty’s Public House is the perfect location for our flavor of entertainment. I am very excited for this opportunity!”

Two performances are currently on the schedule: Saturday, February 29, and Saturday, May 2, with a June date to be announced soon. The duo will take the summer off but plan to offer monthly performances beginning in September 2020. Visit atasteformurder.com for a complete list of performances for “Murder at McGinty’s” and other locations.
