Joe Iconis and Lauren Marcus live this weekend at The Argyle Theatre and Rockwood Music Hall

Broadway sensations Joe Iconis and Lauren Marcus (Be More Chill; Love in Hate Nation) are two of the busiest artists in NYC theater, and with good reason; they’re also two of the most talented, productive, and entertaining. Following Thursday evening’s intimate duet concert of standards and covers for Dinner Music @ West Bank Café, this weekend they’ll both be performing again, in two different shows on Long Island and the Lower East Side.

In celebration of its reopening in September, The Argyle Theatre – Long Island’s newest year-round professional theatrical venue, located at 34 West Main Street in the village of Babylon – is presenting a one-night-only gala on Saturday, August 14, beginning at 7:30 pm. Hosted by Argyle Artistic Director Evan Pappas with music direction by Ethan Andersen, Welcome Back! A Starry, Starry Night at The Argyle Theatre will feature a line-up of Argyle alumni from its first two seasons.

Cast members will revisit songs from Hairspray, Legally Blonde, The Producers, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid, and more, and preview musical highlights from the upcoming 2021-22 season, which includes Cabaret, Elf: The Musical, The Buddy Holly Story, An American in Paris, Mamma Mia, and Footloose. In addition, there will be special guest appearances by Joe Iconis (book and arrangements) and Rob Rokicki (co-arrangements and orchestrations) performing excerpts from their world-premiere musical Punk Rock Girl!, produced by The Argyle and playing January 20-February 27, 2022.

For tickets to the gala (priced at $45-55, with a $10 discount for season subscribers, and a $3 per ticket facility fee), go online, or call (844) 631-5483. All members of the audience are expected to be fully vaccinated, or, if unvaccinated, will be responsible for wearing a mask when not actively eating or drinking. On Sunday, August 15, Lauren Marcus returns to Rockwood Music Hall for the first time since her mid-pandemic livestream in January, for the live in-person opening concert in her latest residency there on Stage 3, located at 185 Orchard Street. Accompanied by her acclaimed band of NYC musicians, the retro-pop singer/songwriter will perform a set of original tunes inspired by favorites from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and contemporary indie rock, in her unique blend of then and now, effervescent powerhouse vocals and soft, sensitive, and empathetic vulnerability. She not only writes and sings the songs, she inhabits them.

Tickets are only $10 (plus a service fee of $2.86 per ticket, and a two-drink minimum), so grab you proof of vax, proof of age 21+, and go. If you can’t make it this weekend, you have two more chances to catch Lauren Marcus at Rockwood on August 29 and September 5. All three shows begin at 7 pm; doors open at 6.
