Two free streaming picks that will touch your heart

A memorial tribute to Nick Cordero and the latest collaboration from Broadway Inspirational Voices are two free online offerings that will touch your heart and, through voluntary donations, support important causes close to their hearts.

In honor of what would have been his 43rd birthday on September 17, Broadway on Demand is presenting an exclusive free stream celebrating the memory of Tony-nominated stage and screen star Nick Cordero (Bullets Over Broadway), who was lost to COVID-19 on July 5, 2020, after being hospitalized for more than three months. Introduced by his wife Amanda Kloots, the Nick Cordero Memorial Tribute brings together the artist’s family and friends to remember his life and career, and to ensure that his commitment to music and his work as a leader in the Broadway community live on.

The special two-hour virtual event includes photographs, music, videos, memories, and commentary from those with whom Cordero grew up, worked, and shared his talent, as well as special performances by those who shared the stage with him. Proceeds from viewer donations benefit the Save the Music Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1997, to help students, schools, and communities reach their full potential through the power of making music. On demand access is available through Friday, October 1; to donate, text CORDERO to 41444.

On Tuesday, September 28, beginning at 7:00 pm, Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) – a professional choir of diverse Broadway and Off-Broadway artists dedicated to changing lives through the power of music and service – returns for the ninth in its series of Songs in the Key of Me (SITKOM). This latest special online event features a collaboration with program partner Ronald McDonald House in NYC, which, since 1979, has provided housing and support for more than 59,000 families coming to the city for the advanced treatment of children battling childhood cancer.

The Arts and Education initiative paired BIV member composers with young patients to craft songs inspired by their colorful imaginations. The original works were then taken to the next level with the creation of music videos, which will have their world premiere in the virtual “Wrap Party” on Tuesday. The online program will also include footage in which viewers get to know the creative teams, as well as feature a special performance by Broadway Inspirational Voices, all with the mission of bringing joy and hope, and building community, through the music.

To view, go online; the program is presented free of charge, but donations are welcome. You can also watch previous SITKOM videos on the BIV YouTube channel.
