KENSINGTON ARTS THEATRE’S 2015-2016 SEASON
Fall 2015
Book & Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber
Based on the Gospels’ accounts of the last week of Jesus’ life, Jesus Christ Superstar highlights the political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus, seen through Judas’ eyes. Contemporary attitudes and sensibilities, as well as slang, pervade the lyrics, and ironic allusions to modern life are scattered throughout the depiction of political events.
Winter 2015/2016
Book by Roger O. Hirson
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz
A mysterious performance troupe, led by a Leading Player, tells the story of Pippin, a young prince (son of Charlemagne) on his search for meaning and significance (with very little historical accuracy).
Spring 2016
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Tony Award winning musical, Evita, concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president, Juan Perón. The story follows Evita’s early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death.
