If you want a sexy, hilarious, and unique experience from this year’s Capital Fringe Festival, check out Dildos and Body Parts: An Oral Herstory, written, directed, and performed by Diva D’Luscious aka Sarah Greenspan.
The comedy musical features D’Luscious’ gorgeous vocals and equally stunning burlesque skills as she performs a variety of songs from The Little Mermaid, Chicago, Samson et Dalila, Les Misérables, Cats, and Eugene Onegin.
Daniele Lorio, as The Stage Kitten, opens the show with a dirty parody version of “Magic to Do” from Pippin, setting up the mood for the raunchy content to come. And then D’Luscious appears as Ariel the mermaid. She talks of her longing to be human and the anatomical advantages of humans vs. fish in sexual relations, citing the greater number of orifices alone as a reason for envy. She then sings a parody of “Part of Your World” as she transforms into her human form and goes off in search of her Prince.
Lorio as the Kitten lingers throughout the musical and gathers up the bits and baubles left behind from Ariel’s numbers. In between each song, a short video is projected on the wall featuring the famous Disney Princes and their accounts of falling in love with their Princesses and eventual relationship failures.
The Princes are a mixture of arrogance and ignorance, dripping with sarcasm and misogyny. Justin Beaver aka Ginny Sapphire is Flynn Rider, Diva D’Luscious is Prince Eric, Dick Hunt is Prince Philip, L’Adios is Prince Charming, and Hp Loveshaft is Prince Adam/Beast. The videos take an honest look at the Disney romances and the bizarre and unhealthy dynamics behind them.
Dildos and Body Parts: An Oral Herstory is thoroughly entertaining and worth the price of admission and then some. D’Luscious discovers love and lovers in many places but cannot seem to find her Prince, all the while dazzling the audience with her encounters, fabulous costumes, and sensuous strip teases all in pursuit of true love.
The show is light-hearted and pure fun, with a splash of feminine power and resilience. A definite do-not-miss experience and not for the faint of heart.
