As part of its inaugural new works series, Iconoclast Theatre Collective is seeking submissions from emerging and established songwriters of stand-alone songs or selections from musicals in development, not previously performed publicly before a paying audience, for its upcoming concert Iconoclastic Voices: Songs of Resistance on Sunday, April 25, at NYC’s Green Room 42. The show will be focused on themes of survival, strength, perseverance, and community that speak to the current moment, with the mission of voicing the truth and stirring the brazen iconoclastic spirit to power.
Applicants are invited to submit up to three original new songs in the format of an mp3 demo recording of the song(s) and a PDF of the sheet music, along with brief explanations of how the works embody the subject. All are welcome to apply; writers from vulnerable communities are especially encouraged. The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 17, 11:59 pm.
Iconoclast will provide:
- A slot to debut your song(s) in the concert series in NYC;
- Rehearsal studio space for a run through of your song(s);
- Soundcheck at The Green Room 42;
- A pianist (if needed);
- A video recording of your song(s) to share as you wish.
Chosen applicants will provide:
- The song(s) you’d like to debut;
- The artists you want to perform the song(s).
