Maybe Happy Ending – Starring Darren Criss, Helen J Shen, Dez Duron, and Marcus Choi, the multi-award-winning musical, written in both Korean and English-language versions, tells the offbeat and captivating story of a chance encounter that sparks connection, adventure, and maybe even love between two outcasts near the end of their warranty, who discover that even robots can be swept off their feet. Playing an open-ended run at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre (for tickets, call 212-239-6200, or click here), the heartwarming show, with Deborah Abramson serving as Music Supervisor and John Yun as Music Director, received six 2025 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score (Will Aronson and Hue Park), and Best Leading Actor (Criss).
The original Broadway cast album was released in streaming, digital, and CD formats earlier this season and the vinyl edition became available on June 13, with both physical formats including liner notes from Grammy-nominated songwriter Stephen Trask, a synopsis, color production photography, and complete lyrics. Real Women Have Curves: The Musical – The lively and empowering Latinx musical, with music and lyrics by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez, book by Lisa Loomer with Nell Benjamin, and music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo, tells the story of high-school student Ana Garcia, who has dreams of flying away from East Los Angeles. But when her family receives a make-or-break order for 200 dresses, Ana finds herself juggling her own ambitions, her mother’s expectations, and a community of women all trying to make it work against the odds. The Broadway premiere, which starred Tatianna Córdoba as Ana, with Justina Machado, Florencia Cuenca, Shelby Acosta, Carla Jimenez, Aline Mayagoitia, Mauricio Mendoza, Mason Reeves, Jennifer Sánchez, and Sandra Valls in supporting roles, backed by the ensemble of Ariana Burks, Quincy Hampton, Zeus Mendoza, Claudia Mulet, Christopher M. Ramirez, Monica Tulia Ramirez, Shadia Fairuz, Elisa Galindez, and Omar Madden, played through Sunday, June 29, at the James Earl Jones Theatre and received twelve award nominations this season, including Tony nominations for Best Original Score and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Machado).
A CD version of the original Broadway cast recording is now set to be released by Ghostlight Records on Friday, July 25, featuring seventeen tracks, a 28-page booklet with complete lyrics, color production photography, and more. Legally Blonde: The Musical – A two-LP gatefold set, released on vinyl for the first time and pressed in exclusive hot pink, will feature eighteen tracks, the complete lyrics, original production photography, and a synopsis of the cross-generational fan favorite, following the transformation of sorority girl Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal. When it opened on Broadway in 2007, the musical adaptation of the iconic 2001 film, with music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O’Keefe, a book by Heather Hach, and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, received seven Tony nominations, including Best Original Score, and continued to build a dedicated fan base when MTV aired both the musical and the popular reality program Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods.
In addition to Laura Bell Bundy starring as Elle, the Broadway cast featured a who’s who of luminaries, including Annaleigh Ashford, Richard H. Blake, Christian Borle, Natalie Joy Johnson, Andy Karl, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, DeQuina Moore, Orfeh, Michael Rupert, Kate Shindle, and Nikki Snelson.
