Here’s Part Seven of meeting the cast of The Washington Savoyard’s The Rocky Horror Shows. Today: meet Chad W. Fornwalt.
I am Chad W. Fornwalt (Brad). I am happy to be working with Washington Savoyards after being seen in Cannibal…the Musical with Landless, as John Wilkes Booth in Assassins with St. Mark’s Players, in Rent, as Marley in A Christmas Carol, and Happy Days at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, and in Violet at Kensington Arts Theater.
Why did you want to be part of this production?
I wanted to be in the Savoyards production of Rocky Horror, because it is such a fun show to do and the last time I did it, it was a very limited run and just wasn’t enough time. I enjoy the energy that this show creates because of the audience interactions and cult following of the show. It is simple entertainment and we need that in our lives. This show is a perfect escape for a couple hours.
How did Director Jay Brock help you shape your performance?
Working with Jay has been great. He is the kind of Director that every Actor wants to work with. He gives you the framework of what he is looking for, and then he gives you the freedom and challenge to make it your own. He encourages you to make choices, no matter how ridiculous they may seem, because you never know what is going to work. He utilizes a very collaborative process that makes all of us better.
What are some of the challenges you experiencing in rehearsals?
My biggest challenge during rehearsals is learning to walk in 4″ Stiletto heels.
What is your next project on the stage after The Rocky Horror Show?
My next project will be covering Captain VonTrapp in Toby Dinner Theatre’s upcoming production The Sound of Music from December 26, 2012 – January 8, 2013.
