Creative Cauldron Receives 2012 Dominion Arts Stars ‘Rising Star’ Award by Laura Connors Hull

CREATIVE CAULDRON RECEIVES 2012 DOMINION ARTS STARS “RISING STAR” AWARD. ARTS COUNCIL OF FAIRFAX COUNTY AWARDS 2013 GENERAL OPERATING GRANT

Creative Cauldron’s efforts to provide quality programming in the performing and visual arts received a major boost this week with awards from two major Virginia non-profit arts advocacy organizations, Virginians for the Arts and the Arts Council of Fairfax County. In a ceremony held at ArtSpace Falls Church on Wednesday, November 7th, Travis Cutler, External Affairs Representative from Dominion Resources, and Beth Temple, member of the Virginians for the Arts Board of Directors, presented Creative Cauldron Producing Director Laura Connors Hull with the 2012 Dominion Arts Stars “Rising Star Award.”

The awards were established by Virginians for the Arts, with support from the Dominion Foundation, to recognize arts organizations in the state that have demonstrated an extraordinary impact on the community; successfully developing community partnerships, earning business, legislative and local community support; contributing to K-12 education; and demonstrating sustained excellence. A “Shining Star” category was also established to honor organizations more than ten years old who have “stood the test of time.” The Rising Star award is accompanied with a $1,000 gift.

Creative Cauldron also received a 2013 General Operating Support Matching Grant from the Arts Council of Fairfax County in the amount of $17,679. This is the sixth year that the organization has been so honored. Arts Council President and CEO, Linda Sullivan stated “we believe that Creative Cauldron provides a quality program to the community and is an essential component of the quality of life we enjoy in Fairfax County. The Arts Council is dedicated to making the arts more accessible to all county residents and to making the arts a part of everyone’s daily lives.” Earlier this year Creative Cauldron received a $9,000 Project Support Grant for its “World of Stories” Touring Theater project. With funding from this grant, Creative Cauldron will develop three cross-cultural story theater performances for touring throughout the community.

Creative Cauldron Founder and Producing Director Laura Connors Hull commented: “For every hour that an artist performs or creates, there are at least 100 hours of support coming from organizations and individuals like the Virginians for the Arts and the Arts Council of Fairfax County. We are deeply honored by these awards, and with this support will redouble our efforts to make learning, participation and enjoyment of the arts available and affordable to children, families and adults in the community we serve.”
