For four years – every week – DCMTA’s Joel Markowitz  and I have been schmoozing for 4 years about theatre in DC, Philly and NYC and other things…like what was happening in our lives. Internationally acclaimed performing artist/playwright/educator, Ronald Ran has performed his celebrated play,Clurman’s Life of Passion across 20 countries and 17 states. (14th year) Off-Broadway twice, in London, Paris, Athens, New Delhi, Mumbai, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, & most recently at Kathmandu’s International Theatre Festival, Zimbabwe’s BAFA International Arts Festival (First American Artist); “Voices of History” International Theatre Festival-Vologda, Russia (First American Artist), Palace of Culture in Minsk, Belarus; MERCOSUR International Theatre Conference-Paysundu, Uruguay; Kerala’s International Theatre Conference, many universities, colleges in 17 states across America. Upcoming performances: include India, Cuba. Morocco, Turkey, and Egypt. Off-Broadway debut: Julius Caesar at BAM with Richard Dreyfuss. New York appearances include Hamm in Endgame, directed by Joseph Chaikin, Perfect Crime, Servant of Two Masters, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He toured for five months throughout Europe as the Fool in King Lear. Mr. Rand’s plays include LET IT BE ART!, A System of Government, Consequences, Ode to the Moon, The Site of Human Life, and The Group! about the famed Group Theatre, The Great Society, and IBSEN.

Ronald is the Founder & Publisher of “The Soul of the American Actor,” (10th year – the only Art Theatre Newspaper in North America. His book, Acting Teachers of America published by Random House. Adjunct Professor of Acting & Directing at Pace University in New York City. Mr. Rand has taught at over 75 universities, festivals, conferences, and schools around the world. Mr. Rand co-wrote the screenplay THE GROUP about The Group Theatre, collaborating with Joan Micklin Silver. Mr. Rand mentors include Stella Adler, Harold Clurman, Bobby Lewis, Joseph Chaikin, and Jerzy Grotowski.
