Little Theatre of Alexandria Holds Auditons for ’33 Variations’ on March 2 @ 2 & March 3rd @7

The Little Theatre of Alexandria announces auditions for Moisés Kaufman’s 33 Variations, an elegant dance between past and present, art and life, fact and speculation, mother and daughter. 33 Variations addresses one of classical music’s most enduring riddles: Why did Ludwig van Beethoven devote four years of his diminishing life writing variations of a mediocre waltz written by obscure composer Anton Diabelli?

At the same time, 33 Variations examines the motivations of a modern-day music scholar to solve Beethoven’s mystery even as her own health and relationships crumble. 33 Variations is a play about passion, parenthood, and the moments of beauty and genius that can transform a life.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
