What does one dollar mean to different people? Five actors explore the possibilities in the new show Legal Tender at the Capital Fringe Festival this month. Directed by Robert Michael Oliver, and based on nine flash fictions from Elizabeth Bruce’s collection $50, Legal Tender brings audiences something rarely seen onstage: prose in performance. With multiple narrators, shifts in perspective, and a new set of characters introduced in each scene, this batch of live short stories stretches the boundaries of how stories originally written for the page can reveal exciting new facets when performed live.
Legal Tender is produced by the Performing Knowledge Project. The cast includes Andrew White, Forest Rilling, Sharyce L. McElvane, Rachel Viele, and Maya C. Oliver.
