Summer Camp should be much more than just filling time when school is out. This is an exciting time of creative exploration, spending time with best friends, and making new friends. Theatre Camp is a time to discover hidden talents and find new interests
Experts encourage parents to enroll their children in these types of programs because children need constant structure in their lives to keep them active and focused. Summer Camps are a great time to get children involved in theatre.
What is the value of theatre? The theatre arts are for everyone, not just the expressive child. Participation in drama requires self control and discipline. These will serve the student well in all aspects of life.
Theatre …
• Teaches self-discipline and teamwork
· Is an important means of stimulating creativity in problem solving.
• Challenges students’ perceptions about their world and about themselves.
• Provides students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams.
MVCCT’s Theatre Camp offers a structured yet creative outlet that encourages children to flourish. Whether or not campers know it, they are learning each day. Theatre camp sneaks in lots of traditional aspects of education, in addition to theatrical education.
MVCCT’s  Theatre Camp is designed to be process oriented; the purpose is to expose the children to various aspects of theater and corresponding elements. All camps balance process and learning focus with production and performance. Basic theatre games and exercises are designed to work on specific acting craft areas, such as believability, sensory memory, and communication. Rehearsals teach performance skills, learning to follow directions and team building. There is a final showcase performed on last day of camp.
