ABOUT OPERA ON TAP DC METRO

Opera on Tap is a national non-profit organization that breaks down the stereotype that opera is stuffy or elitist by bringing it to bars, clubs, and other non-traditional spaces. Opera on Tap was founded nine years ago in New York City, and now includes fourteen chapters in major metropolitan areas around the country. It has been reviewed and profiled by major media outlets including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Los Angeles Times. Local reviews of the DC Chapter include DC Theatre Scene, Pamela’s Punch, and Woman Around Town.

The DC Metro Chapter of Opera on Tap was founded this winter by Elise Jablow and Kristina Riegle. Elise and Kristina are both professional opera singers who perform on stages across the country. Before moving to DC in 2012, Kristina was one of the founding divas of Opera on Tap Boston.
