The Theatre Lab’s annual Dramathon is one of our most fun events of the year. The Dramathon gives volunteer fundraisers the chance to act with some of Washington’s best actors in readings of short plays by some of Washington’s best playwrights.

This year, participants get to act with multiple Helen Hayes Award winners, including Sherri Edelen, Rick Foucheux, Deb Gottesman, Christopher Henley, Kathryn Kelley, Jennifer Mendenhall, Michael Russotto and Holly Twyford. They’ll read original works from great playwrights such as Norman Allen, Bob Bartlett, Renee Calarco, Ally Currin, Caleen Sinette Jennings, Elizabeth Pringle, Gwydion Suilebhan and Laura Zam, under the guidance of professional directors. And they perform at Theater J, one of Washington’s best professional venues, on May 16 at 10:30 pm. It’s all to provide scholarship funds to give kids better access to arts education.

All ticket sales and funds raised go toward our Send a Kid to Theatre Camp campaign, which, this year, will provide $80,000 in scholarships to help financially disadvantaged children and teens participate in our summer camps and institutes. Join us for some late night good times on May 16. Have some fun, and help some great kids!
