Capital Fringe 2014 Review: ‘I Fucked Your Country’

Twanna Hines is fun and sexy. Which is great for someone who talks about sex for a living. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this show, so I was happily surprised when I discovered it wasn’t going to be a one-woman bout of group therapy.

country

Blending fun stories and educational videos, Twanna strings together a (sometimes vague) story of her past and potential future sexual encounters. It is a fun romp that allows a bit more freedom of thought as you are romping through someone else’s memories where judgement can be set aside to allow a bit more laughter in.

The show is intriguing but could use a bit more polish. There were a few distractions that took away from the experience slightly, but a few lessons with a hand held mic would alleviate most of the technical issues. Overall, though it was quite a bit of light-hearted fun and I (shockingly) actually learned something. Huzzah for education and art coexisting!

Running Time: 65 minutes.

I Fucked Your Country will be performing through July 27, 2014 at the Goethe Institut -812 7th Street NW, in Washington, DC. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit their Capital Fringe Page
