A Tribute to Costume Designer Reggie Ray – An Interview at The Helen Hayes and Videos of His Work

Costume Designer Reggie Ray died in his sleep yesterday and what a loss it is to the local theatre community. Personally, Reggie had always been so kind to me and as a regular Facebook friend we’d catch up on all his new projects and colorful designs. I will miss this so much.

I always enjoyed interviewing and schmoozing with Reggie at The Helen Hayes Awards and here is an interview I did with Reggie at the 2011 Helen Hayes Awards. You can see his bubbly personality shining through.

Reggie has been nominated six times for Helen Hayes Awards He won for Spunk (1994) and Souvenir, A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins (2008), both done for Studio Theatre.

To send condolences to Reggie’s family, send them to Reggie Ray; PO Box 1811; Greenbelt, MD 20770. Rest in peace my friend. You will be sorely missed.
