Alex: How did you get involved in theatre? When did you know that you want to be an actor?

Megan: I did my first stage play when I was 14, but I was bitten by the bug when I was much younger. I had an active imagination and a penchant for bossiness, so I would enlist my siblings to put on shows for our parents in the living room (usually as a ploy to avoid bedtime). I decided I wanted to pursue acting professionally after my first year of college, but the seed was sowed long before that!

Tell me about One Man, Two Guvnors. How are the rehearsals are going? What do you love most about the show?

We have so much fun in rehearsals! I love the element of play with this show–we’re trying so many different things, and it’s fun to dive in with some crazy choices and see what happens. We’re making great discoveries and laughing a lot.

Is this your first time at 1st Stage? If so what’s the experience like? If you’ve worked with us before, tell us what makes 1st Stage unique. What brought you back?

I did Cripple of Inishmaan in the spring, and I’m so excited to be back. I saw the London West End production of One Man, Two Guv’nors, and I had to actively focus on not peeing myself from laughing so hard. It’s riotously hilarious. There was no question that I wanted to be a part of it at 1st Stage.

What kind of theatre inspires you as an artist?

I love watching actors who aren’t timid about the choices they’re making. Sometimes you can tell when someone on stage is seeking approval (or laughter) from the audience. But when I watch someone who is committing wholeheartedly to their work without apology, it makes me excited! I want to do that!

Who or what has been the biggest influence on your work as an actor thus far?

I’m blown away by the strength of the female actors in DC. I’m privileged to watch and learn from them. This is a badass theatre town full of kickass ladies. I love it.

What is the one thing you are most excited about for the show?

GETTING AN AUDIENCE!
