Damascus Theatre Company presents a hilarious Ode to Broadway Genres with The Musical of Musicals: The Musical.

Damascus Theatre Company (DTC) nominated for 6 WATCH (Washington Area Theatre Community Honors) in 2014, proudly presents the comic satire of musical theatre with its production of The Musical of Musicals: The Musical.

This is a musical about musicals where one storyline becomes five musicals, each told in the distinctive style of a different Broadway master from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerry Herman, to Stephen Sondheim. The Musical of Musicals: The Musical with music by Eric Rockwell and lyrics by Joanne Bogart and based on the book by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart, is sure to please everyone, whether you are a lover of musical theatre or a show tune novice.

dtc-logo-final1-300x2311The show starts with the familiar story of June, an ingénue who can’t pay the rent, and is threatened by her evil landlord. Who will come to her rescue? Using this basic plot, the musical tells this story five different ways in the style of Broadway composers starting with Rodgers and Hammerstein, then moving onto Stephen Sondheim complete with a crazed knife wielding character, followed by the style of Jerry Herman. Next is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s style of a rock musical, and finally, the show ends with Kander and Ebb à la Chicago.

DTC’s production of The Musical of Musicals: The Musical features a cast of four, two women and two men. Performances are February 19, 20, 21, 27 and 28, 2015 at 8 pm, with two matinee performances on February 22 and March 1, 2015 at 2 pm.

All performances will be at The Clifton Theater at Sandy Spring Friends School – 16923 Norwood Road, in Sandy Spring, Maryland.

The Musical of Musicals: The Musical is directed and music directed by Keith Tittermary and co-produced by Elli Swink and Carol Boyle. Choreography is by Megan McNellage. The cast includes Ellie Borzilleri, Cheryl Campo, Bill Brown, and Micky Goldstein.
