2016 Capital Fringe Preview #44: ‘Romanov’ by Danny Baird

They may be dead, but the Romanov sisters aren’t letting that slow them down! They’re back and taking the world by storm with a electro-pop concert that sets the record straight on their little part in the fall of Russia’s greatest dynasty. And as a special treat, their brother, His Imperial Highness, Tsarevich Alexei is coming along for the ride.

They have a plan, but pulling it off may be more than these pop stars can handle.

Romanov is the first collaboration between longtime friends Danny Baird and Meghan Stanton. Baird presented another original musical, Girl Versus Corinth, at last year’s Capital Fringe Festival; after a recent performance at Joe’s Pub at the Public, it will be remounted as part of the New York Fringe Festival in August. Stanton is a fellow and marketing associate at Single Carrot Theatre, where she recently assistant directed Midlife, a world premiere by playwright Ben Hoover.

Featuring: Danny Baird, Meghan Stanton, Allie O’Donnell, Alicia Osborn, and Catherine Purcell.
