2016 Philadelphia Fringe Review: ‘Incredible Dreamz’

A comedy collective, referring to themselves as a “polyamorous quad couple” or “Incredible Dreamz” starring The Incredible Shrinking Matt & Jacquie (Matthew Schmid and Jacquie Baker) and The New Dreamz (Rose Luardo and Andrew Jeffrey Wright), have whipped up an absurd offering of silly, surreal, funny shtick with a side of bologna roll to suit the fringier taste of Fringe goers. unnamed-50

Yes, Matthew Schmid, Jacquie Baker, Rose Luardo and Andrew Jeffrey Wright actually do feed the audience a bunch of bologna, and they eat it up. Well, maybe they don’t actually eat the actual bologna, but it’s the thought that counts. The laughter is real. Waggish and whimsical, from improv and interactive audience antics to the incredibly outrageous, including excellent physical comedy, there is something for everyone in this lovely ludicrous show

Space 1026, with its kitschy clutter of art and graffiti exploding off the walls and everywhere, is a fun and fitting venue for the act. Costumes add to the humor of the performance, and sound and lighting highlight the various scenes.

At the end of the show, an audience member was asked to explain what just took place on stage. This person really couldn’t say, but it sure was a real good time!

Running Time: 60 minutes, with no intermission.

Incredible Dreamz plays through September 24, 2016 at Space 1026  –  1026 Arch Street, 2nd Floor, in Philadelphia, PA. For tickets, purchase them at the door, or online.
