News: The Round World Presents ‘Tales from the Round World: The Log of the Salty Pearl’

The Round World is excited to present Tales from the Round World:  The Log of the Salty Pearl, the second in their series of live radio plays with variety acts interspersed to raise money for great causes. The Log of the Salty Pearl will be stories of pirates and high jinx on the high seas to raise money for Mote Marine Research Lab, who are working on restoring the ocean’s coral reefs. The show will be Thursday, September 21, at 8:00 PM at the Bier Baron Tavern in Dupont Circle.

Following up on last month’s Tales from the Round World:  Calls to the Alien Crime Hotline (extraterrestrial crime), writers were asked this time to write tales of pirates with one common “MacGuffin” – a ship called the Salty Pearl. The audience can expect an evening of comedy with a bawdy, buccaneer bent. The evening’s program will include live Foley sound effects with chances for audience participation; and “commercial breaks” that are variety acts including live music, burlesque and sideshow. The show will be recorded and podcast later.

Writers include: Chris Griffin, Christian Crowley, Countess Von Dreck, Jared Davis, Kerri Sheehan, Matt Basset, Pamela Leahigh, Rebecca Rose Vassy and Rufus Drawlings.

Performers include: Aaron Spaace, Annie Bawdy Wansom, Baron Atomy, Delilah Dentata, Diva Darling, Fanny Tittington, Harv Lester, Lansing O’Leary, Lucrezia Blozia and Mary Suib.

The Round World was formed in 2015 to present new works that combined scripted work with circus, sideshow, and burlesque.  This is their second venture into the live radio play arena.

Note: The show is 21+.

Tales from the Round World:  The Log of the Salty Pearl plays on September 21, 2017, at The Bier Baron Tavern – 1523 22nd Street NW in Washington D.C. Tickets can purchased at the door ($15) or order them online ($12).
