Four of MetroStage’s favorite actors, Doug Brown (The Island and Mooi Street Moves), Marni Penning (Are You Now or Have You Ever Been), young Jeremiah Hasty (Uprising) and Jeremy Keith Hunter making his MetroStage debut, will be gracing our stage telling this important story of South Africa during apartheid and twenty years later where the struggle continues. Fugard was inspired by the story of “outsider artist” Nukain Mabuza, whose Rock Garden in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa was created from the 1960s to 1980. This may be Fugard’s final play and is an important overview of his world, his perspective and the hope that endures for the human condition. A play as timely today as when Nukain was painting those rocks to tell his story on a small koppie on the farm years ago.

The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek plays August 30 through September 30, 2018, at MetroStage – 1201 North Royal Street, in Alexandria, VA. For tickets, call the box office at 703-548-9044 or purchase online.
