Alden Theatre’s ‘Drive-Thru Drama’ gets spooky

A family-friendly adventure featuring werewolves, witches, zombies. and more.

Just in time for Halloween, The Alden Theatre in McLean continues its unique Drive-Thru Drama performances with Objects in Mirror May Be SPOOKIER Than They Appear, October 16 to November 1, 2020.

Drive-Thru Drama is a social-distance theater format that brings people together for live theater from the comfort of their own car. Actors perform one cohesive story through short scenes across the McLean Community Center parking lot. Audience members simply roll down their windows and drive the route from actor to actor.

Objects in Mirror May Be SPOOKIER Than They Appear—a family-friendly adventure created by Recent Cutbacks; written by Nick Abeel, Darian Dauchan, Kristin Parker, and Natalie Rich; and directed by Scott Zimmer—takes audiences on a weird ride that the Alden describes this way:

“Every 100 years, the planets align in such a way that allows Spooky Scientists access to an alternate dimension. A century ago, physicist Boris Gool entered and has not been heard from again. Brave the portal this October and help a modern-day Spooky Scientist as you encounter werewolves, witches, zombies and more in the search for what really happened to Boris.”

Safety precautions that adhere to the CDC and Health Department guidelines include:
• The driving route will be set up so that actors are a minimum of six feet away from cars and each other at all times.
• All actors will be wearing a face shield. All audience members are asked to wear a mask.
• Other precautions may be taken if recommended by the CDC or the Health Department.
• Those who are considered to be in a high-risk category for contracting COVID-19 should consult a doctor before purchasing tickets.

Objects in Mirror May Be SPOOKIER Than They Appear plays Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, October 16–18, October 23–25, and October 30–November 1, 2020. Tickets with timed entries in 15-minute slots, 6 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. are available online.
