Nu Sass to debut gothic fairy tale by rising playwright Tiffany Antone

Performances of world premiere 'Twigs & Bone' will be limited to 18 audience members.

After two years of COVID-related delays, Nu Sass Productions returns to the stage with its largest and most ambitious show yet: the world premiere of Twigs & Bone — a gothic fairy tale spanning three days and three lifetimes — by rising playwright Tiffany Antone. Directed by Lynn Sharp Spears, Twigs & Bone will perform April 1 through June 25, 2022, at Caos on F (in rep with Nu Sass’s other 2022 show, To Fall In Love by Jennifer Lane, which will run May 6 through June 18, 2022).

ABOUT TWIGS & BONE
Moira had never intended to return to her childhood home, preferring instead to send nurses and maids to care for her aging parents. However, when the phone line is cut off and the maid stops responding, Moira has no choice but to face her own past and her parents’ present. Part American gothic, part Irish fairy tale, and part magical realism, Twigs & Bone leaves the audience on the edge of their seats to the last moment in the show.

“Our director, Lynn Sharp Spears, brought this show to the company in 2018, and we began plans to produce it in 2019,” said Nu Sass Artistic Director Aubri O’Connor. “We loved how authentic the family dynamics were, how the magic of the story was rooted in reality, and the challenge the script offered us knowing it would be staged in Caos. We’re keeping all our fingers and toes crossed that this project so long in the making finally has its day in the sun.”

With its roles double-cast, Twigs & Bone stars Aubri O’Connor or Katie Wicklund (as Moira), Lynn Sharp Spears or Melissa Robinson (as Bonnie), and Tom Howley or Kim Curtis (as William).

Twigs & Bone will perform April 1 through June 25, 2022, presented by Nu Sass Productions performing at Caos on F, 923 F Street NW, Washington, DC. Tickets ($30 general admission; $60 date night [2 tickets + 2 drinks + 2 snacks]; $10 industry, student, teacher, healthcare worker) can be purchased online. Pay What You Will is available for all performances, and a streaming option ($20) is available for selected performances (see schedule below).

COVID Safety: Seating is limited to 18 audience members per performance. Proof of vaccination is required. All guests will be asked to comply with Theater Washington COVID guidelines.
