All-star line-up announced for the return of ‘Broadway Barks’ to NYC’s Shubert Alley

For its 24th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption special, Broadway Barks returns live and in-person to Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 9, 2022, for the first time since 2018. Co-founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, the outdoor event features adorable animals from 25 NYC area adoption agencies and rescue groups, along with a line-up of Broadway’s biggest names using their star power to help them find loving homes.

This year, Peters will co-host with Sutton Foster, female lead of Broadway’s The Music Man. Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the festivities will begin at 3 pm, for a meet-and-greet with all the adoptable pets. Then from 5-6:30 pm, the available furry friends will make their Broadway debuts on stage, presented by a roster of favorite celebrities and animal lovers from current Broadway productions.

Among the stars lending their support are: Antwayn Hopper, James Jackson Jr., John-Michael Lyles, and Jason Veasey from A Strange Loop; Alex Brightman and Kerry Butler from Beetlejuice: The Musical; Bobby Conte, Claybourne Elder, Christopher Sieber, and Jennifer Simard from Company; Jared Goldsmith from Dear Evan Hansen; Ramin Karimloo and Jane Lynch from Funny Girl; Jewelle Blackman from Hadestown; Tamar Greene from Hamilton; Myles Frost from MJ the Musical; Shoshana Bean and Randy Graff from Mr. Saturday Night; John Dossett from Paradise Square; Suzy Nakamura and Julie White from POTUS; Abby Mueller from Six; Shuler Hensley, Jayne Houdyshell, Hugh Jackman, Eddie Korbich, Jefferson Mays, and Marie Mullen from The Music Man; and Talia Suskauer from Wicked. Also scheduled to appear are two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy and singing comedy sensation Randy Rainbow.

Participating NYC animal shelters and adoption agencies include Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniels Rescue Inc, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, AdvoCat Rescue, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Animal Care & Control (ACC), Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, Bide-a-wee, Bobbi and the Strays, City Critters, Francis’s Friends Inc., The Humane Society of New York, Husky House, Linda’s Cat Assistance, Little Shelter, Long Island Bulldog, Metropolitan Maltese Rescue, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League Inc, Pet ResQ Inc., SaveKitty Foundation, SPCA of Westchester, Urban Cat League, Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, and 1 Love 4 Animals.

Over the past 23 years, more than 2,000 cats and dogs have taken the Broadway Barks spotlight and stolen the hearts of all who attend, with approximately 85% of them having successfully found forever homes.

Broadway Barks takes place on Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Shubert Alley, located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues, NYC. Attendance is free and open to the public.
